OK movement insists on autonomy despite Obi’s objection to campaign council

The Ok Movement has asserted its independence and maintains the validity of its Presidential Campaign Council, despite opposition from Peter Obi, the Presidential Candidate of Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). In an interview on ARISE Television, Obi asserted that the OK Movement and the NDC are synonymous, and any action taken must have the approval of both parties.

The OK Movement's National Director-General, John Ughulu, clarified that the movement's internal structure is separate from the NDC's organizational structures. Ughulu emphasized that the movement's leadership decisions and organizational mechanisms do not require validation or approval from the NDC leadership. He also stated that the OK Movement recognizes candidates contesting under the NDC platform as potential beneficiaries of its grassroots mobilization and political structure.

According to Ughulu, the OK Movement is an independent political organization with its own principles, values, leadership, and organizational framework. He stressed that the movement does not require financial support from the NDC presidential candidate or the party to establish or operate its organizational structure. Ughulu further clarified that the NDC has the right to establish and manage its own campaign structures, and the OK Movement is entitled to organize and manage its affairs within the limits of applicable law.

The movement would not accept attempts to undermine, appropriate, dissolve, or interfere with its organizational structure and leadership. Ughulu stated that the movement remains willing to engage constructively with the NDC and work within the NDC's principles, values, and structures. He reiterated that the movement's principles and mission remain unchanged and that it will continue to focus on grassroots mobilization and its stated mission of contributing to the transformation of Nigeria.
