Ndindi Nyoro demands disclosure of Dangote refinery shareholders in Lamu project

Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro has called for the public disclosure of shareholders involved in the proposed Dangote refinery in Lamu. Speaking on September 26, 2026, during the Nakuru County People's Tour, Nyoro expressed that Kenyans should be aware of who owns the project if it goes ahead. He urged investors coming to Kenya to operate freely without any pressure to surrender shares or ownership interests.

Nyoro stated that Kenyans welcome major investors like Nigerian businessman Aliko Dangote but insisted on transparency in investment deals. He alleged that President William Ruto often demands shares in companies whenever investments are made in Kenya, but did not provide evidence to support his claim. Nyoro urged the government to ensure that the refinery investment is conducted transparently and that details of its ownership are made public.

The East Africa Refinery, linked to Dangote, is planned to be launched on September 30, 2026, with an estimated investment of Ksh2.2 trillion. The refinery is expected to process 700,000 barrels of crude oil per day and create employment for over 60,000 people.
