Murkomen fires warning shot at bandits after Samburu killings

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has issued a stern warning to bandits in Samburu, Isiolo and neighboring regions after a recent attack that killed two police officers, a National Police Reservist and two civilians. Speaking in Nandi on September 26, 2026, Murkomen pledged to ramp up security measures in the region to combat ongoing armed criminal activity.

The government will continue its crackdown on those with illegal firearms and those targeting security personnel, civilians and livestock, warning that perpetrators will face decisive action. The operations will be intelligence-led, with security agencies instructed to exercise caution to minimize collateral damage and livestock loss.

Murkomen addressed concerns over the impact of recent security operations on livestock, urging officers to distinguish between armed criminals and innocent residents.
