Man City chairman defiant over reported Premier League charges

Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has defiantly declared his club's confidence in proving their innocence following allegations of breaching Premier League financial rules. The club has been accused of 114 charges out of 115, though one charge remains unclear. The Premier League has not officially announced any punishment, and an appeal remains a possibility for City.

The investigation, which began in September 2024, lasted 12 weeks and examined alleged breaches of financial regulations between 2009 and 2018. These charges include inaccurate financial reporting, undisclosed player and coach payments, and failure to cooperate with the investigation. City's owner, Sheikh Mansour's Abu Dhabi United Group, acquired the club in 2008, making them the dominant force in English football with eight Premier League titles and a Champions League crown to their name.

Experts warn that a severe points deduction or even expulsion from the English top flight could result from a guilty verdict, with potential repercussions for the Manchester economy and geopolitical relations between the UK and the UAE.
