Madhya Pradesh Seeks ₹4,600 Crore From Centre To Upgrade Roads In 51 Towns Under OTI Scheme

Madhya Pradesh has requested ₹4,600 crore from the central government to enhance roads in 51 towns under the One-Time Improvement (OTI) scheme. The funds will be utilized for constructing roads using cement and concrete materials. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari reviewed the progress of the road construction work at the Chief Minister's residence on Friday, where he discussed the important projects with Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, PWD Minister Rakesh Singh, and Chief Secretary Ashok Barnwal.

Gadkari highlighted that the roads leading to NH roads inside the towns were in poor condition. The state government submitted a proposal for road construction, and Gadkari urged the central government to approve it to improve the roads. Gadkari emphasized the need for high-quality roads and expressed his desire for the Atal Express Way to extend up to Bateshwar, following Atal Bihari Vajpayee's special connection with the place.

He also directed officials to coordinate with central counterparts regarding land acquisition and forest department approval, ensuring no delays in the projects. Gadkari directed the officials to complete the roads connecting Ujjain, where the Simhastha festival will be held in 2028, without further delay. Additionally, he instructed the suspension of toll tax collection at the Shahpura toll plaza, considering the traffic disruptions caused by the damaged Shahpura rail overbridge in Jabalpur.

Gadkari further directed officials to improve road connectivity between Nagpur, Jabalpur, and Raipur for access to Kanha National Park.
