Japan's Justice Minister affirms strong UAE-Japan ties in all fields

Takashi Yamashita, Japan's Minister of Justice and leader of the Japanese delegation to the 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice in Abu Dhabi 2026, has expressed his satisfaction with the strong ties between the UAE and Japan in various sectors, including justice. At the congress, he highlighted the importance of the event in making the world safer amidst its major challenges.

Yamashita stated, "Through the congress, we will seek to make the world safer in light of the major challenges it faces. From Abu Dhabi, I affirm that everyone is working along the same path towards achieving this goal."

The Minister of Justice also affirmed the UAE's commitment to building strategic partnerships with integrated legal frameworks. This was evident from their participation in the congress, which opened with a pledge-backed Declaration aimed at strengthening digital-age criminal justice. The event also emphasized cross-border justice and AI safeguards to combat organized crime, cyber threats, and AI misuse.
