Central Railway Announces 418 Special Trains For Diwali, Chhath Rush; Mumbai To Get Extra Services To Gorakhpur, Banaras And Other Cities

Mumbai's Central Railway has announced 418 special train services to accommodate the anticipated rush during the upcoming Puja, Diwali, and Chhath festivals. These trains will connect Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra with various destinations such as Gorakhpur, Chennai, Bengaluru, Latur, Nagpur, Kolhapur, Mau, Banaras, Ghazipur, and Thiruvananthapuram.

The CSMT-Gorakhpur route will have the maximum service, with 64 daily trains running from October 16 to November 18, and another 64 trains connecting Hadapsar to Gorakhpur between October 16 and November 17. Additionally, special services will be available between CSMT and Chennai, Bengaluru, Latur, Nagpur, and Kolhapur. For those traveling towards northern India, LTT-Mau and LTT-Banaras services will offer extra capacity.

Passengers can also find services running from Hadapsar to Ghazipur City and between Nagpur and Hadapsar. A special train between Kolhapur and Kalaburagi will operate five days a week, excluding Fridays, during the festive period. Several of these trains will feature a mix of AC, sleeper, and general second-class coaches. The first set of special train bookings will open on September 27, while the remaining services will begin booking on September 28 via reservation centers and the IRCTC website.
