Governments would be better if women were in charge – Obama

Former U.S. President Barack Obama believes that governments worldwide would function better if women were in charge for two years, according to remarks he made during a conversation with historian Doris Kearns Goodwin at Salem State University in Massachusetts. The former president suggested this idea while discussing leadership and the importance of providing younger generations with opportunities to hold influential positions.

Obama expressed confidence that, while things wouldn't be perfect, they would be better under female leadership. This statement comes on the heels of a similar view he shared in 2019 during a leadership event in Singapore, where he also believed that countries would see improvements if women ran every government for two years. During the Salem State discussion, Obama also addressed political divisions in the United States, stating that the country was less divided than its media and politics may suggest, and that people across the nation were still treating one another with respect.
