From 'it's all over' to Asiad gold: Suruchi's stunning 48-hour turnaround

Suruchi Inder Singh, a medal contender in the individual 10m air pistol event, faced a disappointing turn of events during the Asian Games. Within just 48 hours, she turned her misfortune into a gold medal victory, teaming up with teammate Kamaljeet to clinch the mixed team event gold.

Suruchi, who had won four World Cup gold medals the previous year, was devastated by her poor performance in the individual event on the first day. She dismounted, packed her pistol and left the shooting range, expressing her somber demeanor. Despite her emotional state, Suruchi recognized the need to bounce back quickly, giving herself a "reset button."

The next day, Suruchi returned to the shooting range and, in partnership with Kamaljeet, delivered a stunning performance. The duo achieved a Games and Asian record score of 484.6, ultimately securing the gold medal. Suruchi explained that she had to hit the reset button and sought guidance from her coach and parents to regain her focus.

Kamaljeet, who also faced disappointment in the individual event, was fortunate to secure another chance to compete when he replaced Kedarling Balakrishna Uchaganve in the mixed team event. He seized the opportunity and, alongside Suruchi, produced a remarkable performance, despite missing the final by just one point in his individual event.
