Kurt Kuhlmann, a former Elder Scrolls designer, shared his thoughts on Fallout: New Vegas die-hards, stating that he is unsure if Todd Howard wanted to recreate the situation for The Elder Scrolls. Kuhlmann is a fan of old school RPGs and has high regard for Obsidian. He has no doubt about Howard's protective instincts towards the series, which is understandable.

The designer believes that Bethesda's devs are proud of their work and respect their peers at Obsidian. He does not view Howard's actions as weakness or insecurity. Instead, he thinks that it's the online community, particularly YouTubers, who are impugning their character or pushing for retribution over a perceived mishandling of the series.

The Fallout community may have gotten what they wanted, but it came with a catch. While Obsidian is working on a new Fallout game, it comes with the pressure to succeed.
