Fog blankets parts of UAE, Abu Dhabi cuts speed limits to 80km/h

Abu Dhabi experienced dense fog on Saturday morning, limiting visibility and leading to reduced speed limits in several key areas. The National Centre of Meteorology issued a fog alert, warning of significantly diminished horizontal visibility and the potential for visibility to drop to zero in certain instances. The police responded by cutting speed limits to 80km/h on a number of major roads.

These restrictions applied to routes such as the Abu Dhabi-Al Ain Road between Al Wathbah and Al Faya, as well as between Al Khaznah and Al Rimah. Similar speed limits were imposed on roads like the Al Taff Road, Umm Az Zumoul Road, Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Road, Mohamed Al Falahi Al Yasi Road, and Sheikha Salama bint Butti Road, among others.

The temporary 80km/h limit was also enforced on several sections of Sweihan Road and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Road. Police urged drivers to maintain a safe distance from other vehicles, avoid abrupt changes in direction, and remain vigilant of fluctuating speed limits during periods of poor visibility. This fog incident is part of a broader pattern of high overnight humidity in the UAE, which could bring additional fog or mist in the coming days.
