2 arrested for ‘harassing’ Hindu College students, SUV seized

Two students from Delhi University, Abhinav and Abhimanyu, were arrested on Friday in connection with an alleged incident of harassment involving two Hindu College students in Mukherjee Nagar, Northwest Delhi. Abhinav was apprehended in Laxmi Nagar, while Abhimanyu was taken into custody in Gurugram, Haryana. Both students are enrolled at a college on the North Campus, according to police.

The incident allegedly occurred on Wednesday evening when a first-year postgraduate student at Hindu College reported that a group of men in a white SUV followed her and a friend, attempting to pull them into the vehicle around 9:30 pm. The SUV is now seized, and two to three people were reported to be in the vehicle at the time of the incident.

The alleged victim and her friend were walking when the white SUV approached them. The men inside allegedly made comments, abused them verbally, and followed them. When the women attempted to record the incident, the men allegedly stopped the vehicle and tried to pull them inside. The accused fled the scene when the complainant's friend began filming the car.

Following the complaint, an FIR was filed at the Mukherjee Nagar police station under sections 78 (stalking), 79 (insulting a woman's modesty), and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police are investigating the allegation that the two students approached multiple police stations prior to registering the complaint.
