FM urges return to dialogue, resumption of diplomatic track through US-Iran negotiations

Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Badr Abdelatty, has called for the resumption of dialogue between the United States and Iran in order to address the ongoing regional crisis. Speaking at a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi during the UN General Assembly in New York, Abdelatty emphasized that dialogue and diplomatic negotiations are the only viable means to end the current situation and prevent further escalation.

This statement comes after the two ministers discussed the latest regional developments and ongoing efforts to reach an agreement aimed at containing tensions and de-escalating the crisis.

Abdelatty stressed the importance of all countries assuming their responsibilities to ensure the safety and freedom of international navigation, thus mitigating the crisis's negative impact on the global economy. He highlighted the significant disruption caused to energy and fertilizer supply chains, as well as international trade, due to the current situation. Abdelatty also emphasized the necessity of respecting the security and stability of Gulf states and other countries in the region.

The meeting, held on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, addressed the urgent need for a return to dialogue and diplomatic track through US-Iran negotiations. Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nader Zaki confirmed that the discussion covered the latest developments in the region and the review of proposals to reach an agreement on containing tensions and de-escalating the situation.
