First time votes in focus, special SIR camps to be held for Delhi students

As the Delhi Chief Electoral Officer focuses on increasing voter registration among young citizens aged 18 to 25, special camps will be organized across colleges and universities starting September 29. These camps are part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. Individuals who have turned 18 by October 1 and are not listed in the draft electoral roll can submit Form 6 with required documents during these camps. Booth level officers will be present at the events to assist attendees.

In addition, a special camp will take place on September 27 at all polling station locations in Delhi to enroll eligible electors who were not included in the draft roll. This is the second such camp following an earlier event on September 20. The move aims to ensure that the city's voter population is up-to-date and accurate. Prior to the SIR exercise, Delhi had 1.45 crore electors.

Of these, 97.5 lakh made it to the draft roll published on August 31. Over 33 lakh electors received notices to verify their eligibility, while 47.5 lakh were removed from the rolls due to various reasons, such as being marked "uncollectible" or having logical discrepancies in their enrollment forms.

Since the beginning of the SIR process on August 31, 1.21 lakh electors have submitted Form 6. However, the final electoral roll is expected to be published on November 4.
