Evening recap: Aide disputes Obi’s claim as godfather to Soludo’s children, Umahi says no rainbow coalition in Ebonyi, other top stories

1. The First Lady's media aide, Daniel Ezeigwe, clarified that Peter Obi is not the godfather to Chukwuma Soludo's children. He mentioned that Dr. Nonye Soludo is the confirmation godmother to Obi's daughter, while Margaret Obi is the baptismal godmother to one of Soludo's daughters.

2. The Lagos State Task Force denied stopping a driver over a vehicle inscription and also claimed it does not demand permits for such markings. Additionally, the agency stated that it no longer enforces traffic-related offences.

3. Chris Iyovwaye, the Delta State governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, rejected the endorsement of Sheriff Oborevwori as the sole candidate of the Urhobo Nation for the 2027 election. He emphasized that an endorsement by Urhobo traditional rulers cannot supersede the constitutional right of Deltans to select their governor through a ballot.

4. The Minister of Works, David Umahi, declared that there is no rainbow coalition in Ebonyi State. He affirmed that the state remains aligned with the All Progressives Congress (APC) and warned against hate speech during election campaigns.

5. Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, announced that he has been cleared of allegations of wrongdoing after investigations by the Nigerian Police, Department of State Security (DSS), and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). He expressed his gratitude to President Tinubu for insisting on due process and unveiled a ₦1.15 billion empowerment programme for approximately 5,000 beneficiaries in Surulere.
