‘Consequences’: India warns Pakistan on terror after Sharif’s ‘act of war’ threat

Hours after Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif criticized India during the United Nations General Assembly, warning of an "act of war" if India altered the Indus Waters Treaty, India issued a sharp response on Saturday. India's First Secretary at the Permanent Mission to the UN, Petal Gahlot, fiercely rejected Sharif's allegations, emphasizing that Jammu and Kashmir is an "integral and inalienable part" of India.

Gahlot reminded the world of Pakistan's past, specifically pointing out that Osama bin Laden, the mastermind behind the 9/11 attacks, had once been harbored within Pakistan. Gahlot criticized Pakistan's treatment of minorities and highlighted ongoing violence and killings in Pakistan-administered Kashmir. She emphasized that India's response to Sharif's speech would carry consequences, particularly over Pakistan's history of cross-border terrorism.

Gahlot reiterated that India would exercise its right to defend itself against terrorism and that Pakistan's conduct would have severe repercussions.
