Commissioner orders steps to curb dog-bite incidents

Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi has instructed district administrations to boost efforts to prevent dog-bite incidents in the city. He emphasized the need for adequate anti-rabies vaccines and treatment facilities at designated hospitals. At a meeting with Deputy Commissioners, Naqvi assessed the performance of Dog Bite Centres, vaccine availability, and strategies to regulate the stray-dog population.

Javed Nabi Khosa, DC South, confirmed that Dog Bite Centres at Lyari General Hospital, Civil Hospital, and Jinnah Hospital were fully functional with ample supplies of anti-rabies vaccine. Naqvi ordered officials to expedite medical treatment for affected citizens and monitor the centres continuously. The meeting also agreed to develop a coordinated plan with Town Municipal Administrations to manage the stray-dog population, potentially through neutralization and tagging.

District Commissioners were tasked with submitting district-wise progress reports during the subsequent weekly meeting.
