China, US agree to $30 bn tariff cut during Xi's visit

Chinese President Xi Jinping concluded an eight-point agreement with U.S. President Donald Trump during his historic state visit to Washington, including a $30 billion reduction in tariffs on non-sensitive goods. This marks the second face-to-face meeting between the two leaders this year, following their summit in Beijing in May.

The consensus also includes dialogue on artificial intelligence, agricultural market access, and stabilizing global petroleum supply. The leaders agreed on Iran's commitment to not develop nuclear weapons and the prohibition of tolls on international waterways. They reaffirmed support for each other's hosting of the upcoming APEC and G20 summits and discussed anti-narcotics enforcement progress.

A memorandum of understanding was also established for crisis communication and recovery of missing U.S. military personnel in China.
