Autónomos and Small Businesses Can Apply for New Vehicle Grants from Thursday

Starting Thursday, October 1, 2026, Spanish self-employed individuals and small businesses will have the opportunity to apply for new electric vehicle grants as part of government Plan Auto+ programme's Line 2. Applications must be submitted by December 31, though funds could run out earlier. A €50 million budget supports the initiative, with €8 million earmarked for autónomos (self-employed workers) and €42 million for companies.

For self-employed workers and microbusinesses, the maximum grant is €6,000 for passenger cars or €7,500 for light commercial vehicles like vans. Those in specific professional activities might qualify for a higher van grant of €12,000, contingent upon meeting additional requirements under the Social Climate Fund. However, these grants apply only to zero-emission vehicles and are not guaranteed payments; the actual amount depends on the vehicle's technology, price, and contribution to European manufacturing.

Eligible vehicles must meet Spain's CERO environmental label, and the scheme does not cover conventional petrol or diesel cars. To be eligible, applicants must be registered with Spain’s tax authority and fulfill their tax and Social Security obligations. The grants aim to facilitate vehicle replacement and promote the adoption of cleaner transportation methods by businesses.
