Brentford keen to extend Kevin Schade’s contract to ward off Liverpool and Arsenal

Brentford are aiming to extend Kevin Schade's contract in order to prevent interest from Liverpool and Arsenal, according to Sky Sports. The German forward has impressed in the 2026/27 season, netting three goals while helping the Bees maintain an unbeaten run in the Premier League's opening five games. Schade's stellar form has caught the attention of top clubs, including Arsenal and Liverpool, who showed interest during the summer transfer window.

Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have also kept tabs on the 24-year-old, but Brentford are now working to solidify their position by improving his current terms. Schade's contract remains valid until 2028, having signed a five-year deal with Brentford in June 2023 after joining from Freiburg for a reported £20 million. The defender has become a key attacking player alongside Igor Thiago and Mikkel Damsgaard, scoring eight Premier League goals and recording four assists in 35 games last season.

His contributions this season have further boosted his tally to 25 goals and nine assists in 119 appearances. Schade's progress has been acknowledged on an international level, as he has been included in the Germany squad and started Jurgen Klopp's first match against the Netherlands, earning his sixth cap. Arsenal's interest in Schade could be especially significant, considering their requirement for another left-sided winger following the departures of Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard.

Liverpool, on the other hand, does not currently possess sufficient depth in that position, but Schade might still be considered as a potential option on the opposite flank. Brentford manager Keith Andrews has emphasized his desire to keep Schade at the club, highlighting him as an essential part of the squad. The Bees now need to successfully convince Schade to sign a new long-term contract to stay at Brentford.
