Bears beat Leicestershire to secure ninth title

Warwickshire have sealed their ninth County Championship title by defeating Leicestershire by an innings and 79 runs in a thrilling final day of the Rothesay County Championship, Division One at Edgbaston. Ethan Bamber was instrumental in securing the victory, taking 5-52 and contributing to a match figure of 9-94, while former England all-rounder Chris Woakes was a key contributor with 3-38.

Tom Scriven's 49 helped Leicestershire into the afternoon session, but it was not enough to halt Warwickshire's charge of five wins in their final six matches, with three of those victories being by an innings. Warwickshire, who had been relegated, claimed their first county title since the 2021 post-Covid season and their fourth in the 21st century.
