(Asiad) S. Korea ends worst table tennis campaign with 3 bronze medals

NAGOYA, Japan, September 26 (Yonhap) -- South Korea concluded its most disappointing Asian Games table tennis campaign on Saturday, with all singles and doubles players failing to secure a medal in Japan. The Korean team returned home with three bronze medals - one from the men's singles, another from the women's team event, and the third from the mixed doubles competition.

This marked the first time in the history of table tennis at the Asian Games, which began in 1958, that South Korea did not win at least a silver medal. In the women's singles match, Shin Yu-bin and Joo Cheon-hui both advanced to the quarterfinals before suffering heartbreaking defeats. In the doubles event, Shin and Joo squandered a 2-1 lead, losing 3-2 to Thailand's Suthasini Sawettabut and Orawan Paranang.

Meanwhile, Oh Jun-sung and Lim Jong-hoon were also eliminated from contention in the men's doubles. Jang Woo-jin also exited the men's singles tournament in the round of 16, following a 4-0 loss to Chinese Taipei's Feng Yi-hsin.
