Apple Code Leak Reveals iPad 12, iPad mini 8 Details

Apple's upcoming iPad models, the 12th-generation entry-level iPad and eighth-generation iPad mini, may see significant hardware improvements, according to code leaks discovered by MacRumors contributor Aaron Perris. The iPad 12 is expected to launch in spring 2027, while the iPad mini 8 might debut by the end of October this year, as suggested by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

According to MacRumors, the iPad 12 will feature Apple's A19 chip, C1X modem, and N1 networking chip. The increased RAM, from 6GB to 8GB, will enable Apple Intelligence support, bringing AI features and Siri capabilities to the device. The move from the A16 chip to the A19 in the iPad 12 will also support sub-6GHz 5G networks and Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread connectivity.

The iPad mini 8, on the other hand, will reportedly use an A20 Pro chip, come with a redesigned front-facing camera, and have a new speaker system. This could be part of Apple's ongoing push towards water resistance and include a slightly larger, OLED display. The front-facing camera will be positioned in landscape orientation, marking the final iPad in Apple's current lineup to use this orientation.
