Akpabio, Eno, others celebrate Akwa Ibom at 39

Forty-nine years ago, the government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria established Akwa Ibom State, a sentiment that was reiterated during the 39th anniversary celebration. The event, held at Arise Palm Resort, was graced by a gathering of distinguished guests, including the President of the Senate Godswill Akpabio, his spouse Ekaette, Governor Umo Eno, and other notable personalities.

The festivities included cultural displays, masquerade dances, traditional attire, and a variety of entertainment. The celebration recognised the achievements of the state over the past 39 years, while also focusing on future plans. Akpabio praised the administration for its achievements and praised the Arise Palm Resort for hosting the event.

Two scholarship awards worth millions of naira were presented during the event, recognising academic excellence. The event also featured a food presentation, book launch, awards, and lively cultural performances. Prominent guests included Nollywood actress Ini Edo and chef/world record holder Hilda Baci. The celebration concluded on a festive note, with guests enjoying the hospitality and cultural richness of Akwa Ibom.
