AK-47 bullets, Pakistan flags, old rivalry: Inside plot to frame Jammu jeweller

On September 19, security forces in Jammu & Kashmir discovered AK-47 ammunition, Pakistani currency notes, flags, and militants' posters during raids at a local jewellery shop in Poonch town's main market. Initially, investigators presumed it to be a terror case, but the probe soon shifted to a business rivalry and a conspiracy to frame a family in a terror investigation.

Three individuals – Amandeep Singh, Arvind, and Mumtaz – have been taken into custody by the police for allegedly attempting to frame the family of Davinder Singh, the owner of Ruby Jewellers. The remaining two suspects, Gagandeep Singh and Hardeep Singh, are believed to have masterminded the plot. Amandeep and Arvind are employees at a rival jewellery business, Sajjan Jewellers, while Mumtaz has a history of police encounters.

The police suspect that the material was planted, but the claim remains unverified. The raids were prompted by a tip from the Army, which led security forces to search Ruby Jewellers. The team found live AK-47 rounds, Pakistani currency worth Rs 105, 30 posters with alleged terror links, and two Pakistani flags. The family claims to have witnessed a series of events, including phone calls and messages in the days leading up to the raid.

The police suspect the rivalry between Ruby and Sajjan Jewellers, which led them to question Amandeep, an employee of the rival business. The family also alleges that the Singh brothers of Sajjan Jewellers had been attempting to frame Davinder Singh in a terror case ever since he returned home two-three months ago.
