We’ll continue to go tough on bandits – Gov Aliyu

Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu has pledged to maintain his administration's tough stance against banditry and ensure the safe return of internally displaced persons (IDPs) to their homes. Speaking at the opening of the 8th regular meeting of the State Executive Council, Aliyu elaborated on the state's intensified efforts to combat the issue in collaboration with conventional security agencies.

He confidently stated that the government is witnessing remarkable progress in the fight against banditry and remains steadfast in their mission to make the state a safer place. Aliyu highlighted the successful engagements between security forces and bandits in Rabah, Tureta, and Kebbe Local Government Areas, leading to the rescue of individuals and the recovery of thousands of livestock.

The Governor assured the populace, especially those in the most affected regions, that the government, with the provision of new armored vehicles and other resources, would continue their relentless pursuit of bandits until rural communities are secured. Aliyu reiterated his commitment to providing the required support for security agencies in the state to safeguard the lives and property of citizens.

He also called upon the people to continue supporting the government in its endeavor to establish lasting peace and security throughout the state. The Governor further outlined his administration's dedication to executing projects that directly benefit the people, aligning with their 9-Point Agenda. Over the past three and a half years, the administration has consistently delivered healthcare, education, road infrastructure, water supply, religious affairs, and empowerment programs across the state.

Governor Aliyu expressed his dream of a New Sokoto, which future generations would be proud of, and requested the continued support and prayers of the people in realizing these objectives.
