Trump lays out the pomp for Xi but says little about the significant tensions in US-China relations

Ottawa, Canada's capital, is set to remove Trump Avenue from its map as relations with the United States deteriorate. The decision comes after US President Donald Trump expressed hostility towards Canada, urging the country to cease to exist and become the 51st US state. Ottawa's city council voted unanimously to remove Trump's name from the leafy residential neighborhood, citing the president's antagonistic attitude towards Canada.

Mayor Mark Sutcliffe expressed his disapproval of any street named after Trump, who has shown hostility towards Canada. The street currently resides in Central Park, an area with many roads referencing New York and Trump's hometown. Former residents of Trump Avenue will form a committee to determine a new name, which will come into effect next year.

The change will maintain the street's current name until the transition. Tensions between the two nations have intensified under Trump's presidency, with his America-first approach and disregard for international alliances. He has imposed tariffs on Canada and referred to Lake Ontario, located on the countries' border, as Lake America. Trump has also mocked Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on social media.
