Speaking after a New York screening of the encore screening, Russo was asked about moments in the film that take on new significance with Doomsday on the horizon. The director confirmed that one pivotal moment occurs when Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter's happy ending is abruptly interrupted by Loki's arrival, seemingly from his time as a TVA agent.

Russo teased that the scene plays one beat past where Steve's story ended with Peggy, marking where Doomsday is born.

While Russo did not provide further details, fans have theorized that the actions of Steve, Peggy, and Loki set in motion the rise of Doctor Doom. A recent teaser showed Doom mourning his wife and child, leading fans to believe that the team's timeline shenanigans inadvertently set Doom on a path of revenge.
