#TECH: Huawei unveils Watch GT 7 series with smarter health, fitness features [WATCH]

Shenzhen witnessed Huawei's introduction of the Watch GT 7 series, a smartwatch range tailored for everyday use that integrates health monitoring, fitness tracking, and outdoor activity features. The collection comprises the Watch GT 7 and its upgraded counterpart, Watch GT 7 Pro, the latter distinguished by its titanium alloy casing and nanotech ceramic bezel.

Both models boast Active Matrix Organic Light-Emitting Diode displays, with the Pro model featuring a 1.47-inch display capable of reaching peak brightness up to 3,000 nits.

The watches adeptly monitor a multitude of health and activity metrics, such as heart rate, heart rate variability, sleep pattern, and daily activity levels. The data from these readings can be accessed via the Huawei Health application. The core of these functionalities lies in Huawei's TruSense System, a sensor system integrating multiple sensors and algorithms.

The Watch GT 7 series is capable of tracking over 70 health and fitness indicators, including heart rate, blood oxygen, and sleep-related data, facilitating detailed and prompt health assessments.

Huawei's latest offering introduces a Physical Readiness Score, which evaluates users' health data to advise on whether they should exert themselves on a particular day or prioritize recovery. Additionally, the series includes a Diabetes Risk Study, a collaboration with Universiti Malaya, aimed at assisting Malaysians in monitoring their risk of diabetes.

For those engaging in outdoor activities, the series offers specialized tracking for activities like running, cycling, skiing, and golf. The Pro model extends this capability with additional features for skiing and golf.

Positioning technology is utilized to track routes during outdoor activities, with Huawei addressing potential discrepancies in location accuracy caused by surrounding buildings or terrain. Battery life has been a priority, with Huawei claiming extended usage between charges, contingent on the model and usage conditions. The Watch GT 7 series also boasts water resistance, with the Pro model holding 5 ATM and IP69 ratings.

The smartwatches are compatible with both Android and iOS devices, ensuring usability with smartphones across different platforms.

The Huawei Watch GT 7 series is scheduled for launch in Malaysia on September 29, following its global debut at the Munich event earlier this month.
