Raphinha replaces Neymar as Brazil’s No. 10

Brazil's Football Confederation (CBF) has officially announced that Raphinha will be the new No. 10 for the national team, replacing Neymar Jr. The Barcelona winger will wear the iconic shirt in Brazil's upcoming friendlies against Australia and India. This change comes as Brazil prepares to face Australia in Townsville, marking the first match since their Round-of-16 exit from the 2026 World Cup.

Raphinha's appointment as the new No. 10 marks a significant shift in the Seleção's lineup, with Endrick taking the No. 9 slot previously held by Matheus Cunha. Estêvão has been assigned No. 11, while Vinícius Júnior retains his No. 7 number. Hugo Souza will wear the No. 1 shirt, now held by Neymar Jr., who retired from international football following the World Cup.

Neymar, Brazil's leading scorer with an impressive 80 goals in 130 appearances, had worn the No. 10 shirt across four World Cup tournaments before announcing his retirement in late July. Raphinha's selection for the No. 10 position carries historical significance, as the number has been worn by legendary Brazilian players like Pelé, Zico, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, Kaká, and Neymar himself.

The new squad numbers were revealed ahead of Friday's match against Australia, symbolizing the start of a new era for the Brazilian national team under head coach Carlo Ancelotti.
