Raphinha replaces Neymar as Brazil’s No. 10

Brazil’s national football team has unveiled its new formation, with winger Raphinha officially appointed as the team’s new No. 10, replacing Neymar Jr. who retired from international football after the 2026 World Cup. The Barcelona player will wear the iconic shirt in the Seleção’s upcoming friendly matches against Australia and India.

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) released the full squad numbers prior to Friday’s match against Australia in Townsville, marking the first fixture since Brazil’s elimination from the World Cup’s Round of 16. Endrick will wear the No. 9 jersey, previously held by Matheus Cunha, while Estêvão received No. 11, and Vinícius Júnior kept No. 7.

Goalkeeper Hugo Souza will take on the No. 1 jersey. Neymar, Brazil’s all-time leading scorer with 80 goals in 130 appearances, quit international football following the World Cup, stating that his time with the national team had concluded. Raphinha, who has worn the No. 10 shirt during Neymar’s absences, including during World Cup qualifying, now inherits a rich legacy.

The No. 10 jersey has been worn by legendary players like Pelé, Zico, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, Kaká, and Neymar. As Brazil embarks on a new era under head coach Carlo Ancelotti, Raphinha will begin his tenure as the team’s official No. 10 in the first fixture against Australia.
