In a statement to FMT, Fawwaz Jan, the spokesperson for PAS in Pulau Pinang, clarified that the party's stance on contesting the Tasek Gelugor parliamentary seat, currently held by Wawasan Wan Saiful Wan Jan, is based on the views of the party's highest leadership. He emphasized that all factions within PAS have the right to express their opinions and provide input based on their assessments and research.

Once the decision is made, all members will adhere to and support the leadership's decision. Fawwaz Jan also noted that this situation is not unprecedented in PAS history, and the party's members must respect the outcome of the vote, as it represents the voice of the members being considered. However, the final decision on the allocation of seats will be made by the party's top leadership, and all members will comply with the final decision.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Hafiz Alias, the Deputy Youth Leader of PAS in Pulau Pinang, stated that the decision on the parliamentary seat allocation is a matter for the central leadership, but the party's viewpoint is generally considered one of the key factors. He explained that the support of the party's base is crucial, as these candidates have the potential to be elected for consecutive terms and represent the people in the constituency for a longer period.

Hafiz emphasized that the party's leadership needs to consider all parties fairly, without any prejudice, and ensure that the candidates can connect with the base and voters in the area. He added that as long as the candidates have a good record, are approachable, and contribute positively to the community, they will likely face no difficulties in campaigning.
