NEW POSITION: Wallabies set to challenge Springboks’ air supremacy in Perth showdown

In a significant move, Wallaby coach Les Kiss has selected Joseph-Aukuso Sua'ali'i at wing to face the Springboks in Perth on Sunday. This decision highlights the Springboks' dominance in kicking, leading Australia to opt for a player who can counter the Boks' aerial threat. Sua'ali'i, who has predominantly played as a centre in his previous 24 Tests, has been tasked with making an impact on both sides of the ball to counter the Springboks' aerial prowess.

The Wallabies' backline features a formidable trio of Max Jorgensen, Tom Wright, and the untested Joseph-Aukuso Sua'ali'i. Defensively, they are solid with Sua'ali'i handling the high ball against Edwill van der Merwe. The move could see Sua'ali'i switch wings defensively to contest the high ball against Hooker.

Forward coach Tom Donnelly emphasized the importance of the scrum and mauling in the Boks' game plan, stating that the Wallabies need to focus on themselves and execute accurately to stand a chance. The bench is loaded with forwards, leaving only scrumhalf Tate McDermott and utility back Harry Potter as backline reserves.

For the Springboks, coach Rassie Erasmus has opted for a mix-and-match lineup, aiming to build depth and provide opportunities.
