(Asiad) S. Korean pair takes mixed doubles bronze in table tennis

Tokyo — On Friday, Kim Min-seop claimed his first individual Asian Games swimming medal by winning bronze in the men's 200-meter butterfly event at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre. He finished third, with a time of 1:55.94, closely following Wang Xizhe of China by just one-hundredth of a second. Wang Kuan-hung of Chinese Taipei claimed the gold medal with a time of 1:55.05, while Xu Fang of China secured the silver medal at 1:55.65.

Earlier in the Games, Kim had earned silver in the men's 4x100m freestyle relay and bronze in the 4x200m freestyle relay for participating in the heats. During the butterfly final, Kim touched the 100-meter mark second and maintained the silver medal position with 50 meters left. However, he slowed down considerably in the final stretch, with a last split of 30.74 seconds, which was the sixth-slowest among the 10 contestants in the final.

Kim expressed his excitement, stating that this was his first time entering the 1:55 range since the Olympics in 2024. When he heard his parents and teammates cheering from the stands, he believed he had won a medal. Realizing he had won bronze after seeing "No. 3" next to his name on the board, Kim felt extremely fortunate.
