M'sia PM Anwar's brother, 83, passes away in his sleep

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's elder brother, Idrus Ibrahim, died on September 24 at the age of 83. Idrus passed away in his sleep at his home in Cherok Tok Kun, Bukit Mertajam, Malaysia. Anwar was traveling back to Malaysia after a three-day working visit to China when he learned of his brother's passing. In a Facebook post, Anwar expressed his regret for not being able to be present for his brother in his final moments and thanked Idrus for the kindness he had shown throughout his life.

Anwar's daughter, Aida Rafizah Idrus, revealed that her father had not shown any signs of illness before his death, aside from a heart attack the previous year and recent decline in appetite and leg strength. Aida said that Idrus had been preparing for prayers before passing away, as he had placed his prayer sarong nearby. The family's Cherok Tok Kun home, which had been a witness to many family memories, will never be the same.
