MP Nursing College Case: High Court Orders Training Plan For Students Shifted To ‘Suitable’ Colleges

The Madhya Pradesh High Court in Jabalpur has ordered the formulation of a training plan for students who are being transferred from "Unsuitable" nursing colleges to "Suitable" colleges. This directive was issued by the principal bench of the high court. According to Prashant Singh, the Advocate General, the necessary training modules, encompassing theoretical, practical, and clinical training, must be developed to ensure that all students receive appropriate instruction at the designated "Suitable" colleges.

Should the need arise, additional classes can be organized to provide lectures and instructions to nursing students pursuing ANM/GNM/BSc/MSc/PB BSc courses. SV Raju, the Additional Solicitor General, sought clarification on the matter and pointed out that transferring students from "Unsuitable" colleges to "Suitable" colleges is crucial to safeguard their professional futures.

Sanjay K Agrawal, an advocate, referred to instructions dated December 30, 2020, and argued that imposing a penalty of Rs 2 lakh per faculty member and institution is excessive. The submission highlights that each institution must pay a lump-sum penalty of Rs 2 lakh, while every faculty member is required to pay an individual penalty of Rs 2 lakh.

Another petition has been filed, alleging that certain colleges have been recognized by the Madhya Pradesh Nursing Regulatory Council (MPNRC) despite failing to meet the suitability criteria. The petitioners claim that these colleges suffer from infrastructure deficiencies and contain inaccurate information in their applications, including incorrect geographic coordinates.

The court has directed the counsel for the respondent-MPNRC to file a reply or submission addressing the objections raised by the parties.
