Milei and Netanyahu discussed the Falklands in his only bilateral in New York

Argentina's President Javier Milei met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for roughly twenty minutes at United Nations headquarters. This encounter was the only bilateral meeting Milei had with a head of state or government during his New York trip. Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno confirmed they spoke about the Falklands.

When asked by Argentine reporters about the subject, Quirno said "yes" and "fine" when inquired about the conversation's outcome, though he did not elaborate. Milei was also accompanied by Economy Minister Luis Caputo.

Milei's office released a statement detailing their discussion. Netanyahu thanked Milei for his "steadfast and unconditional support" for Israel and congratulated him on receiving the "Defender of Israel" award. The two discussed bilateral cooperation and the potential expansion of the "Isaac Accords," an initiative attributed to Milei to strengthen security and economic ties between Israel and Latin American nations.

Both leaders praised each other, with Netanyahu calling Milei one of the "great leaders of our time" and Milei referring to Netanyahu as "one of the greatest leaders in all of world history."

Israel's ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, stated that Latin America had not been informed about Israel's diplomatic isolation. The meeting occurred hours after several delegations left the General Assembly hall during Netanyahu's speech, where he labeled those who departed as "moral cowards" and dismissed genocide allegations in Gaza as "the biggest lie of the century."

Netanyahu did not hold a formal meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump during the week. Milei commented on the walkout, stating that focusing on the assembly's attendance is a minor matter and that what matters is the message. He reiterated his "unconditional support" for Israel.

Argentina has 60 administrative proceedings against companies operating hydrocarbons in waters near the Falklands, none of which have been proven. Netanyahu has not taken a public stance on these disputes, but his son Yair, who holds no government position, backed Argentina's claims on social media.
