Liberty scores 24 unanswered points in the 2nd half to beat Coastal Carolina 34-17

On Thursday night, Liberty secured a 34-17 victory over Coastal Carolina, thanks to a strong second-half performance. Quarterback Deshawn Purdie accounted for 216 passing yards and two touchdowns, while running back Kam Davis contributed 166 rushing yards and a touchdown. The Liberty offense scored 24 unanswered points in the second half to clinch the win.

In the opening drives of the second half, Liberty capitalized on three scoring opportunities, leading 27-17 after the intermission. Backup quarterback Ethan Vasko sealed the victory with an 8-yard touchdown run on fourth-and-1, aided by a successful conversion by Purdie's earlier scramble. Liberty's defense has remained unyielding in the fourth quarter, preventing a touchdown in their last four games.

Purdie completed 11 of his 16 passes, tossing a 15-yard touchdown to Makai Jackson for the first score of the half. Jackson's performance was instrumental, amassing 149 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Coastal Carolina's freshman Deuce Bailey completed 213 passing yards and threw two touchdowns, but he also had two interceptions, including his first of the season on his second throw.

Coastal Carolina managed to score just 17 points in total, with their lone touchdown coming via a diving catch by Tristian Gardner with 24 seconds remaining in the first half. Coastal Carolina will face Georgia Southern in their next game on October 3rd.
