Key trade pacts in mind, Delhi looks at multi-nation visit by PM Narendra Modi in December

Delhi is planning a multi-country visit by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in December, with the aim of finalising key trade agreements. Potential destinations include the United States, Canada, and at least two European countries. The India-Canada Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) is likely to be finalised and signed during this visit, as is the India-EU Free Trade Agreement in Brussels.

The US and India are also engaging on a Bilateral Trade Agreement, with hopes of completing it by December. While there is no official confirmation from the Ministry of External Affairs, it is expected that Modi will attend the G20 summit in Miami on December 14-15. If he does attend, he may also meet with President Donald Trump and potentially a Quad leaders summit.

Modi is also expected to visit Canada to seal the bilateral trade deal and make a stopover in Brussels to sign the India-EU FTA.
