Karnataka tries to pass the buck on Centre to hide its financial mismanagement: Joshi

Union Minister for Education Pralhad Joshi criticized the Karnataka government on Friday for attempting to shift blame onto the Centre regarding the State's financial mismanagement. In response to a question about the State requesting financial aid from the Centre to tackle the worsening drought situation, Joshi questioned the lack of transparency from the Karnataka government.

He demanded the State government to disclose the number of taluks affected and the extent of deficit rainfall before any aid could be provided. Joshi highlighted the Centre's ongoing support for the State through infrastructure projects and emphasized that the issue lies within the Finance Department, which he claims has stated the government has no money and is bankrupt.

He questioned whether the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman or Joshi himself was making such a statement.
