The Cardinals ranked near the middle of the league in blitz percentage last season, with only 20% of plays resulting in pressure, ranking them second to last.

However, Cover 6 demands exceptional football IQ, communication, and recognition from its defenders. It has been noted for its high interception rate last season, indicating its effectiveness despite the defensive unit's communication breakdowns and open players. The Cardinals' weakness lies in the flats and the space between the boundary corner and safety, where running seam/streak, post patterns, and other deep routes can exploit the coverage.

49ers' defensive line coach Nick Rallis has been implementing Cover 6, and it could significantly challenge the 49ers' run defense. However, their strong pass rush, led by players like Nick Bosa, Fred Warner, and Upton Stout, has been successful in limiting big runs and forcing turnovers. With key injuries to West and James Thompson Jr., the 49ers will need to rely on Naquan Jones and McKinnley Jackson to maintain their defensive success.
