Global Citizen, Oceans Calling, and other outdoor events and festivals are being canceled due to the nor’easter

Severe weather is causing the cancellation of numerous outdoor events along the East Coast of the United States. The nor'easter is expected to bring heavy rain and strong winds to the region, prompting event organizers to cancel operations ahead of the weekend. Over 33 million people are currently in areas with coastal flood alerts, particularly along the Jersey Shore and New York's Long Island.

Among the events affected is the Oceans Calling Festival in Ocean City, Maryland, which has canceled its programming. The festival, featuring artists such as Dave Matthews Band, Ludacris, and Shwayze, will refund ticket holders within 30 days when purchased through Front Gate Tickets. The organizers cited the National Weather Service's advice and consultation with local officials as reasons for the cancellation.

Similarly, the Global Citizen Festival, scheduled to take place in Central Park, New York City, has also been canceled. This marks the first festival cancellation in 14 years. The organizers, in consultation with the City of New York and NYC Parks, decided to cancel due to the extreme weather forecast and safety concerns for the tens of thousands of attendees, artists, crew, vendors, partners, and staff. Refunds are being provided to ticket purchasers, and donated food will be given to local organizations in NYC.

Other events canceled include the IRONMAN 70.3 New York triathlon in Jones Beach, All Things Go NYC music festival in Forest Hills, New York, and Ed Sheeran's concerts at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. The IRONMAN cancellation is due to the anticipated severe weather conditions, while All Things Go NYC and Ed Sheeran's concerts were canceled due to the high winds and dangerous weather forecast for New England. Refunds have been issued for ticket holders of cancelled events.
