COPE journalist fires back at Florentino Perez after Real Madrid’s attack: ‘Their problem is that Barça are six points ahead’

A COPE journalist has responded to Real Madrid's recently published video, which compiled clips of his comments over the past decade, escalating a contentious feud between the journalist and the Spanish club. The incident follows Castano's apology for a comparison he made between Real Madrid TV and newspaper Gara in an ABC column, which the club deemed "an extremely serious act." Real Madrid subsequently released the video, prompting Castano to respond on El Partidazo de COPE.

Castano directly accused Real Madrid's president, Florentino Perez, of continuing his campaign against him, stating that Perez had uploaded a video featuring the journalist and his program, "The Partidazo," to the club's social media. The journalist expressed surprise at Perez's low blow, noting that this was the first time such a video had been uploaded directly by the club's president.

Castano emphasized that he would not alter his opinions to align with Perez's preferences, which he believes is the root of their disagreement.

In addition to the dispute with Real Madrid, Castano also shifted the conversation to the current footballing situation, clarifying that his criticism is not related to Real Madrid's performance on the field. He argued that his problem is not with the club but with Barcelona, which he stated is six points ahead and playing excellent football.

Castano also contrasted his current relationship with Perez to that of other figures Perez previously opposed, such as UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin and Iberdrola chairman Javier Sánchez Galán, describing Perez's treatment of him as a sign of weakness. Ultimately, Castano reiterated that his stance would not change, insisting he would continue his work without alteration.
