Clutch Announce New Album Wasted Lands, Unveil Title Track: Stream

Clutch, the renowned heavy rock band, has unveiled their 14th studio album titled "Wasted Lands". The album is set to release on January 22nd via Weathermaker Records. The album kicks off with the title track, "Wasted Lands", followed by "The Drifter Returns", which was released as the previous single. Neil Fallon, the band's frontman, shares that the inspiration for the album's title came from a Facebook incident where someone falsely claimed he backed out of a deal for a free t-shirt and dinner. He decided to use this as a springboard to create a monstrous, attention-grabbing song.

The band's drummer, Jean-Paul Gaster, mentions that the drum part for "Wasted Lands" was particularly impactful. During the recording, Fallon instructed Gaster to emphasize the line 'man or beast', resulting in a powerful bass drum beat that energized the crowd. Gaster's drumming adds a metallic backbone to the song, making it suitable for a scene of intense energy, akin to a bar fight.

The band's overall intention with "Wasted Lands" is to create a rock record that excites both fans and the band members themselves. The album's themes range from exploded monuments to haunted coal towns, robber barons, time cops, and a monstrous creature named after Fallon himself. Pre-orders for the album are open, with various color vinyl options available. Fans can look forward to a US tour starting next month, featuring Slomosa and Blood Vulture as supporting acts.
