During an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, Monken stated, "I have a huge belief in all of our players, especially Deshaun, because I’ve seen it.

Monken praised Watson for his dedication and hard work over the past 22 months, noting that the quarterback's efforts are commendable given his financial security and proven track record.

Watson has already demonstrated his commitment by returning to form, completing 40 out of 52 passes for 443 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception in just two games of the 2026 season. The Browns currently stand at 1-1, having defeated Jacksonville and beaten Tampa Bay. Their next home game against the Carolina Panthers is scheduled for Week 3, starting on September 27 at 1 p.m. ET.
