BCCQ marks new chapter in UK–Qatar business engagement

The British Chamber of Commerce Qatar (BCCQ) celebrated a significant milestone in its development at its Celebration Evening in Doha, marking its transition from the Qatar British Business Forum (QBBF) in January 2026. Over 150 members and sponsor partners gathered at the Park Hyatt Doha to highlight the progress achieved and the strong institutional relationships supporting the Chamber's work with the UK and Qatar business communities.

A key development announced was the establishment of a BCCQ office within the new offices of Invest Qatar, the country's investment promotion agency, in Lusail. This move strengthens the relationship between the two organisations and creates more opportunities for collaboration. Invest Qatar has provided dedicated office space and access to meeting facilities for the BCCQ, enabling closer day-to-day engagement with the Invest Qatar team.

Invest Qatar's Investment Development Officer, Aalia Al-Khater, expressed pride in the longstanding partnership with BCCQ, emphasizing the growing ties between the two nations and the opportunities for businesses to establish, expand, and grow in Qatar. The new office location within Invest Qatar's premises marks an important step forward in the partnership, supporting more British businesses in Qatar's dynamic business ecosystem.

BCCQ Chairman Emad Turkman MBE reflected on the past nine months of development, noting the chamber's establishment and the continuous building of strong foundations following the transition from the QBBF. The celebration event was attended by representatives of the British Embassy and Invest Qatar, including Duncan Hill OBE and Aalia Al-Khater, whose contributions were acknowledged for the importance of their relationships in BCCQ's work.

Turkman emphasized the chamber's relationship with both the British Embassy and Invest Qatar as crucial to the development. Having a presence within the Invest Qatar offices provides BCCQ with a practical opportunity to work closely with the team, while their continued presence at the British Embassy remains vital for supporting members and strengthening the UK-Qatar business relationship.

Turkman expressed gratitude for the continued support of members, sponsors, and institutional partners, looking ahead to building a Chamber that delivers practical value for businesses and plays a meaningful role in strengthening the UK-Qatar business relationship.
