‘American Horror Story’ Season 13: What to Remember About Constance

Constance Langdon, the prominent character from "American Horror Story," returned in Season 13, playing a significant role in the season's mysterious plot. Jessica Lange portrayed this iconic queen, who had been part of the show since its beginning. However, fans might have difficulty recalling the complexity of Constance's story, as it has been 15 years since her introduction.

In "Apocalypse," Constance met a maid named Moira in Murder House. A disagreement between the two led to a confrontation where Moira accused Constance of taking the coward's way out, implying that she had committed suicide. This led fans to believe that Constance had passed away. Her son, Michael Langdon (Cody Fern), known as the Antichrist, played a crucial role in her decision to end her life.

Michael had a history of leaving "presents" for Constance, beginning with dead rats and escalating to murder as he grew older. His violent behavior towards Constance culminated in him threatening to kill her.

The timeline becomes even more confusing when considering Constance's story as told to Madison Montgomery (Emma Roberts) and Behold Chablis (Billy Porter) in 2017. During this conversation, Constance reveals that she had kicked Michael out after discovering a murdered priest in his bedroom, ultimately leading to his death. However, "Apocalypse" ends with Mallory Redmond (Billie Lourd) traveling back in time to 2015, running over Michael with a Range Rover.

This action ensured that Michael would become a ghost by becoming trapped in the Murder House's lawn. Consequently, Mallory's actions erased the "Apocalypse" timeline.

Despite this change in the timeline, Constance seems to remain connected to the spirit world. In the third episode of "13," she celebrates the pagan holiday Rauhnacht, a time when the veil between Earth and the spirit world is at its thinnest. This suggests that Constance remains a vital part of the show's eerie mystery.
