Zuckerberg unveils Muse’s path to personal superintelligence and a new keychain device

At Meta Connect 2026, CEO Mark Zuckerberg unveiled Muse, the company's ambitious AI agent that represents the future of personal superintelligence. Zuckerberg framed Muse as the foundation of this vision, stating that it is "now within reach" and that everyone will have an extremely capable personal agent to help them achieve their goals.

He emphasized that the purpose of superintelligence is creation and invention, not automation, and that the path to a safe future lies in distributing this technology widely and implementing the right checks and balances.

Muse launched a few weeks before the event and has already gained millions of users. The company's approach to personal superintelligence is fundamentally different from rivals who focus on automation. Zuckerberg's Muse runs on the Muse Secure VM, a private, dedicated virtual computer powered by the Muse Spark model, specifically trained to excel as a personal agent.

The keynote showcased real-world examples of Muse's capabilities, such as tracking down a replacement for broken china, rescheduling a trip, and negotiating a cable bill.

Addressing privacy concerns, Zuckerberg highlighted the company's state-of-the-art privacy and security measures in Muse and Meta's AI glasses. The Muse Secure VM is the first layer of protection, with an upcoming Muse Confidential VM that will keep even Meta from accessing user data. For hardware, Zuckerberg announced private processing for glasses, allowing certain AI features to run in a secure server without exposing data to Meta.

To complement Muse, the Muse Charm keychain device was introduced, enabling users to interact with the AI through a fingerprint sensor without unlocking a phone or opening an app. The device is expected to launch in December for the holiday season.
