Why some music videos cost over $100,000 — TG Omori

Nigerian music video director TG Omori, also known as ThankGod Omori, has revealed that some of his music videos have cost over $100,000 to produce. During an interview on the Afropolitan podcast, Omori discussed the budgets involved in producing music videos, particularly those shot outside Nigeria. He explained that video directors and filmmakers often avoid disclosing budgets because production costs can vary greatly depending on the concept and location.

Revealing budgets might discourage people or undervalue the creative work, he said. Omori noted that music videos shot in the United States, especially in cities like Las Vegas and Los Angeles, tend to be more expensive due to additional production costs. These could include insurance, local artisans, and hourly labor rates, with such productions sometimes exceeding $100,000.

He highlighted that while production in Nigeria for similar budgets could be more profitable, it often requires more supervision and monitoring to achieve the desired results.
