'We're ready to fight': Group of Eagles tailgaters expresses concern about new guidelines

A Philadelphia group of Eagles tailgaters is protesting against new regulations for oversized vehicles parking near Lincoln Financial Field. The changes, set to commence on October 4, have sparked outrage among tailgaters. At a press conference on Wednesday, Louis Jordan, a long-time tailgater, said, "Where we at? A boxing gym. We're ready to fight for what we believe in and what we love."

The primary concern is that standard cars and trucks won't be allowed to park in the designated areas for oversized vehicles, which would affect family members' ability to tailgate together. Carmen Conti, a group member, expressed her frustration, stating, "My kids cannot drive their car next to their dad's truck, and it's going to ruin the tailgating community."

The Sporting Complex Parking Venture claims the new policy aims to improve traffic flow and preserve parking availability. However, tailgaters argue that the decision, made after community input and discussions with city stakeholders, is unfair. The new rules prohibit fans from choosing or saving parking spots, assign specific spaces to oversized vehicle pass holders, and significantly increase fees for oversized vehicles to $200 for four spaces.

The group, calling itself the Philadelphia Association for Tailgating, is forming a committee to voice their concerns and asks for a seat at the decision-making table.
